History of most prestige title of WWE aka WWE Championship:

The WWE Championship aka World Heavyweight Championship introduces by the American Professional Wrestling company named WWE. This title is currently on a RAW brand of the company and this is one of the most prestigious titles of WWE. In the Blog, We talk about the History of WWE Championship briefly.

Firstly, the WWE championship of the company created by the then-World Wide Wrestling Federation (WWWF) on the date of 25th April 1963 as a WWWF World Heavyweight Championship. The first superstar who held the prestige title was Buddy Rogers. Since then championship name changes a few times as company name change. This is the oldest championship above them all present right now in WWE.

Until 2001, this championship promoted as an only primary championship in the promotion. After that when WWF purchase of World Championship Wrestling (WCW) the WCW Championship was added in the roster. Later those two titles unified and promoted as an Undisputed Championship. In 2002, brands spilled happen as well as a promotion name change from WWF to WWE, this championship drafted to SmackDown and introduce new championship named World Heavyweight Championship for a RAW brand. During the course of years, the brand split championship switched between two brands.

In 2013, WWE unified both WWE championship and World Heavyweight Championship with one WWE Championship. Again this becomes the sole top title in the company until the company introduces a new title under the name Universal Championship after the 2016 brand split.
